UN and development partners discuss innovative ways to support St. Vincent and the Grenadines in building resilience
The UN and development partners met in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on July 25th, 2023 to discuss how to support the country's resilience to climate change and natural disasters.
The meeting was attended by representatives from 17 development organisations, including UN agencies, the World Bank, the EU, and other Development Partner States.
The UN Resident Coordinator for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Mr. Didier Trebucq, opened the meeting by welcoming the participants and highlighting the importance of partnerships in building resilience.
Mr. Trebucq noted that St. Vincent and the Grenadines has made significant progress in building resilience in recent years, but that the country continues to face challenges from climate change and natural disasters.
He urged the participants to work together to find innovative ways to support the country's resilience agenda.
The meeting was divided into two parts. The first part focused on a discussion of the challenges and opportunities for building resilience in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The second part focused on a discussion of how the UN and development partners can work together to support the country's resilience agenda.
The meeting concluded with a call for action to strengthen partnerships and accelerate progress on building resilience in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
