Caribbean COVID-19 Food Security & Livelihoods Impact Survey

A year after the global declaration of the pandemic, the deepening socioeconomic impact in the Caribbean is of great concern. Those living in poverty and in a vulnerable position are the hardest hit by the crisis, and their food insecurity is on the rise. While households with incomes above average are better equipped to manage up to this point, poorer ones are increasingly relying on reducing their food consumption and resorting to negative coping strategies that undermine their wellbeing in the long run in order to keep food on the table today.

The Caribbean COVID-19 Food Security & Livelihoods Impact Survey was launched by CARICOM to capture data on livelihoods, access to markets and food security and provide snapshots of these impacts over time. The pathway to managing these impacts relies on strong partnerships in support of countries throughout the Caribbean, putting people at the centre of economic response and recovery efforts.
