Virtual regional concert: "United Voices, shaping our future"

29 October 2020

  • The initiative is part of the activities taking place this year in celebration of the United Nations’ 75th anniversary and constitutes an unprecedented initiative in the region.

This Friday, October 30th at 8:00 p.m. (New York Time) an unprecedented virtual regional concert titled: “United Voices, shaping our future” will take place. The concert will feature more than 40 artists from 17 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean live in following YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/joinun75

On this very special anniversary, the UN convened the largest global conversation in the world, asking everyone to express their hopes, priorities and concerns for the next 25 years through the UN75 survey: https://un75.online/

In our region, there have also been hundreds of dialogues, workshops, conferences and talks as part of the global conversation for the future, achieving so far the participation of more than 90,000 people, mostly women and youth. This regional concert will undoubtedly be one of the most important initiatives on the continent for this campaign.

The concert will be a 75-minute compilation (1:15 hrs.) with music videos produced by the United Nations, in partnership with artists from their countries, or provided by the artists and / or national authorities.

This cultural activity will feature a mixture of rhythms and various musical genres that will be accompanied by messages alluding to the 75th anniversary of the UN in the voice of the Resident Coordinators from Latin America and the Caribbean, promoting the cultural diversity and joy of the countries, with important reflections on our work and the challenges we face as a region.

The online event will also feature a welcome message by the Under-Secretary General, Special Adviser on Preparations for 75th United Nations Anniversary, Fabrizio Hochschild, and the Director of the UN Development Coordination Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, Christian Salazar Volkmann.
