Castries, April 23, 2025- Saint Lucia is now on the list of countries with businesses registered on the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative – the United Nations Global Compact.
Established in 2018, Innovative Business Solutions Inc. (IBS) is a Saint Lucian-owned and operated firm, offering technological services across Saint Lucia and the Caribbean. IBS also provides support services, and training to established service providers such as DIGICEL, FLOW, GTT+, and TeleSUR.
Upon membership of the UN Global Compact, IBS has automatically joined the UN Global Compact Network Caribbean (GCN Caribbean). As one of 62 Country Networks, the GCN constitutes 19 Caribbean countries, and is a multi-stakeholder initiative which supports businesses in aligning their operations with the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, to contribute to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. As at April 2025, the GNC Caribbean comprises 46 participants across 13 Caribbean countries.
Chairman of IBS, Mr. Pinkly Franis expressed delight at this development noting that, “our decision to join the UN Global Compact was one of the easiest business decisions I had to make. This historic milestone reinforces our unyielding commitment to social responsibility and sustainability”. He added that “being a member of the Global Compact offers the guidance, support and tools that we desire to mainstream sustainability in our business practices. The benefits and opportunities are far-reaching, and we have every intention to capitalize on these opportunities.”
As a member of the Global Compact, IBS enjoys several benefits including access to a global network of over 20,000 companies across 160+ countries, along with valuable resources, guidance, and best practices to drive meaningful impact. The United Nations Global Compact was launched in 2000, to encourage businesses to align operations with ten universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and to take actions that advance societal goals.
“We are delighted to welcome Innovative Business Solutions as the first company from Saint Lucia to join the UN Global Compact. This milestone reflects a growing commitment across the Caribbean to embed the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact into business strategies and operations. IBS is paving the way for responsible business practices and sustainable development in Saint Lucia, and we look forward to supporting their journey as a leader in corporate sustainability in the region,” said GCN Caribbean’s Executive Director, Kyana Bowen.
