UNDP Resident Representative Welcomed by Dominican Prime Minister Skeritt

UNDP Resident Representative Limya Eltayeb welcomed by Dr Roosevelt Skerrit for an official courtesy call

Resident Representative for UNDP Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean Limya Eltayeb, was welcomed by The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit at the the Prime Minister's Office for an official courtesy call. She was joined by the Head of the UNDP Dominica Project Office, Laura Hildebrandt.

Discussions with Prime Minister Skerrit centered on advancing cooperation in climate resilience and energy efficiency, digital transformation, support for the Kalinago community and women in agriculture.

PM Skerrit stated that, “We discussed advancing cooperation in climate resilience and energy efficiency, digital transformation; and support for the Kalinago community and women in agriculture.”

Meanwhile, Ms. Eltayeb has assured that the UNDP will continue to support the efforts of Dominica to protect and guard the vulnerable as well as will continue to support the island of Dominica in their efforts to build resilience to impacts caused by climate change.

Noting to which, Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit added that, “I received the assurance that the UNDP will continue to back Dominica’s efforts to protect the vulnerable and strengthen our resilience to climate change impacts.”

“With a great discussion on empowering youth, protecting the vulnerable and enhancing energy efficiency the UNDP team is excited to further our work here,” Eltayeb posted to Twitter.

The UNDP team also held discussions with a number of government ministers to discuss cooperation in sustainable tourism, poverty reduction, the Blue Economy, culture, education and youth development.

Before paying a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Ms. Eltayeb presented her credentials to Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Business, Trade and Energy Hon. Dr. Vince Henderson.
